Wood Avenue Church of Christ is a wonderful congregation filled with many talented people.  God has blessed this congregation.  We have a wonderful opportunity to influence our community, each other, and those who have wandered away.  The goal of the L.I.F.E. Ministry is to help, encourage, and edify each other.  There are 8 areas that we want to focus on as a congregation in carrying out this work.  These areas are outlined in the buttons on the right side of this page. Additionally, there is information on how to "contact us," and a link to our "bulletin."

Remember our mission is to Glorify God - Matthew 5:16.  Our work is to: Seek and save the lost, Encourage and edify the saved, and to Restore the erring.

History of the Wood Avenue Church of Christ

Since 1886, this church has been a vital part of the Florence community. After meeting at the corner of Poplar and Tombigbee Streets for many years (during which time this congregation was known as POPLAR STREET CHURCH OF CHRIST), the church moved to the present facilities in 1970. The church building is located in a historical district that is rich in history and tradition.

We try to provide a proper spiritual atmosphere in which to worship, but we believe we also have one of the nicest, most convenient places to worship. We also have ample off-street parking to accommodate our members and guests.
