Welcome to Brian Giselbach and His Family

Brian Giselbach of Jackson, TN has accepted the position of Pulpit Minister here at the Wood Avenue Church of Christ. Brian completed his undergraduate studies at Freed-Hardeman University with a B.S. in Bible and later completed his graduate studies there as well. Brian has been involved in full-time ministry for 29 years. He will begin his work with us the first week of May.

Brian is marrised to Mildred Elizabeth (Beth) Garner and they have three children. Benjamin is married to Hannah Colley and worhips with the Riverbend congregation in Dalton, GA, Michelle is a sophomore at FHU and Brett is a high school sophomore.

We welcome Brian and his family to Wood Avenue Church of Christ and to the Shoals area!

History of the Wood Avenue Church of Christ

Since 1886, this church has been a vital part of the Florence community. After meeting at the corner of Poplar and Tombigbee Streets for many years (during which time this congregation was known as POPLAR STREET CHURCH OF CHRIST), the church moved to the present facilities in 1970. The church building is located in a historical district that is rich in history and tradition.

We try to provide a proper spiritual atmosphere in which to worship, but we believe we also have one of the nicest, most convenient places to worship. We also have ample off-street parking to accommodate our members and guests.

Wood Avenue Church of Christ is a wonderful congregation filled with many talented people. God has blessed this congregation. We have a wonderful opportunity to influence our community, each other, and those who have wandered away. The goal of the L.I.F.E. Ministry is to help, encourage, and edify each other. Remember our mission is to Glorify God - Matthew 5:16. Our work is to: Seek and save the lost, Encourage and edify the saved, and to Restore the erring.
