REGULAR YOUTH ACTIVITIES AT WOOD AVENUE

B.L.A.S.T. - For the 7th - 12th Grades, Wednesday Nights are a BLAST.  That stands for Building Love And Stronger Ties.  Our classes are all about that on Wednesday.

Super Fab Bible Lab - The 5th and 6th Grade Wednesday Classes are Super Fab.  This learning center based class is unique, fun, and promotes learning all about God's Word.

2nd – 6th Grade J.A.M. (Jesus and Me) On the first Thursday following the first Sunday of every month during the school year, this group meets for an after-school program.  Typically the group meets from 3:30-5:00 for a fun or service activity followed by a devotional and refreshments.  There may be some minor cost involved each month.

Senior High (7th – 12th Grade)Summer Camp, Family Bible School, Mission Trips, Summer Youth Series, Winter Youth Series, Songs of Summer, and monthly devotionals. RV (Rations Vigilantes) –  As the need arises, teenagers bring $2 to contribute to the purchase of the groceries for a needy family in the community.  They also bring money to eat out as a group afterwards.

ACTIVITIES THAT SPAN MULTIPLE AGE GROUPS

Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes – All ages participate in various activities.  There is an organizational meeting in August/September of each year and a Convention in Nashville on Easter Weekend. Youth Conducted Worship – At times set aside by the elders, our young men who have been baptized are given the opportunity to conduct Sunday evening services.  At that time, they can demonstrate talents they have developed in presenting talks, leading singing, reading scripture, and leading prayers.

Bible Bowl – Each month during the school year, we participate in the Area-Wide Bible Bowl hosted by local congregations. Typically, this includes young people from grades 4 – 12.

Winter Youth Series and Summer Youth Series – Once a month during the school year and every Tuesday night during the summer, we participate in this area-wide youth series.

Challenge Youth Conference – On the fourth weekend in February, 7th – 12th Graders and a host of chaperones travel to Gatlinburg, Tennessee for this weekend Youth Rally.

Youth Rallies – We make every attempt to support local youth rallies and activities of our sister congregations.

Summer Camp – The 4th week of June is Maywood Christian Camp.  Maywood is a great week of fun, memories, and growing closer to God by studying His Word.

Songs of Summer – Each Sunday night during the summer, we load up in the bus and go to the Christian Student Center for some of the best singing this side of Heaven.

EXALT – The 4th Sunday evening of each month from September to May, we host an area wide singing from 7:30 – 8:30.  Between 300-400 young people from the area attend this time of singing.

Monthly Service Projects – Service Projects such as Canned Food Drives, Car Wash for the elderly, Rake and Run, Light the Night, etc. are conducted throughout the year.

Childhaven Christmas - Each December we host the Childhaven residents.  They come here to worship on a Sunday evening, and we have a Christmas Party for them.

Purpose

This Youth Ministry exists to provide spiritual, moral, and emotional development of kindergarten age through the 12th Grade youth group at the Wood Avenue Church of Christ.

This ministry serves to supplement the efforts of our families as they endeavor to teach the next generation of believers.

Teaching at the group level is offered through the regular Bible school program and at other planned and organized times.

Individual teaching and counseling is also available upon request.
